Background:

The Maritime Coastguard Agency have built a brand new state of the art training centre on the old HMS Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-Solent in Hampshire. This purpose built facility will provide Coastguard Rescue Officers with essential training and skills to help them deal with emergency situations on the UK coastline.

The construction involves a lightweight steel frame structure building together with an eight metre high ‘cliff face’ training wall to simulate ‘real life’ conditions and instruct teams on how to carry out cliff rescues. This climbing wall will descend four metres into a pit to enable Coastguards to gain experience of working in enclosed spaces.

Scope:

We worked as subcontractors for Raymond Brown Construction, a client of ours that we have worked with on numerous projects over the last few years. We installed the mechanical and electrical works to the building which includes full design and build of the following services:

  • Distribution Boards, Small Power, Earthing, Lighting & Emergency Lighting, Mechanical Supplies, Fire alarm and detection system, Intruder Alarm, Access Control, Disabled Alarm, Infrastructure for the future Solar Voltaic System, Structured Cabling, Audio / Visual Installation, Lightning Protection, Testing and commissioning.
  • LTHW Heating, Domestic Hot and Cold water services, all Above Ground Drainage, Rain Water Harvesting system, Ground Source Heat Pump, Occupancy/CO2 and Humidity controlled Ventilation System, Supply and installation of all Sanitary Ware, Complete mechanical controls package, full Testing and Commissioning.

Our sister company Wessex Fire and Security installed a brand new fire alarm system and intruder alarms on the building with a Paxton Access Control
