Voids Carpenter/Multi Trade Operative - Wessex Response - Blandford, Sturminster Newton, Dorchester

Wessex Response is a family run company based in Dorset for over 50 years. We are seeking an experienced Voids Carpenter/Multi-Trade Operative to join our Property Care division based in Blandford, Sturminster Newton or Dorchester.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

This role requires a customer focussed, self-motivated individual with a broad range of experience. Reporting to the Voids Manager you will be tasked with a variety of repairs; maintenance and installation works, including but not limited to:

  • Carrying out Void repairs and maintenance as directed, completing all jobs within the relevant time scales (including participation in our on call rota when required).
  • Ensure all are kept up to date at the end of each day on progress.
  • To be flexible when undertaking duties as required and contribute to the overall success of the team (including budgetary targets).
  • To use all equipment and materials in a safe manner, complying with Health and Safety requirements and code of conduct (including appropriate PPE).
  • Carpentry –1st and 2nd fix carpentry; kitchen fitting and internal/external doors.
  • Decorating – cleaning; filling and painting where required.
  • Floor & Wall Tiling –Thermoplastic floor tiles; quarry tiles, and installation of wall tiles/grouting.
  • Plumbing – Bathroom suites and associated pipework as well as kitchen plumbing and water drainage systems.
  • Clearance & Cleaning – internal and external clearance of old positions and furniture including a sparkle clean at the end of works.
  • General repairs – Roofing, fencing, door locks, guttering

Essential competencies:

  • Minimum Level 2 City & Guilds in Carpentry (7906) or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Tiling, Basic Plumbing, Painting & Decorating
  • Punctual
  • ICT Literate
  • Valid UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Level 3 City & Guilds in Carpentry (7906) or equivalent
  • PDA knowledge
  • Basic understanding of NMHF Schedule of Rates
  • Previous experience of working within the Social Housing sector

  • Salary depending on experience (42.5 hours per week)
