Description of Work: Intruder and Fire Alarm Maintenance
Background:
Max Gate, is a sophisticated town house a short walk from the town centre of Dorchester and was the home of Dorset’s most famous author and poet Thomas Hardy. Hardy designed and lived in Max Gate from 1885 until his death in 1928. It was here that he wrote Tess of the d’Urbervilles, Jude the Obscure and The Mayor of Casterbridge, as well as much of his poetry. The house was named after a nearby tollgate keeper called Mack.
Scope:
Wessex Fire & Security have been looking after the intruder alarm at max Gate for over twenty years and also maintain the fire alarm system. The House is operated by The National Trust as a Museum and accordingly our works on site are undertaken to minimise disruption.
