Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Description of Work: Fire Alarm System
Background:
The church first began back in 1813, when a licence was obtained to build a church that would sit 120 people. Over the years, the church grew in size and plans began to develop for a new larger church. A new site was chosen along Bath Road and a larger church was built that could sit 600 people. Works began in 1878 and the official opening took place in 1880. The interior of the church was extensively remodelled in 1980-81.
Scope:
As a specialist in historic buildings we were delighted to be referred by another client in the sector who recommended us to the treasurer at the Methodist church in Swindon.
Phil Yeates, Fire Surveyor at Wessex Fire & Security conducted a full site inspection for the fire system, concluding that a radio option was the most suitable and cost effective solution.
The client asked for the system to be linked into the adjoining sheltered housing residential property which consisted of an existing Advanced Apollo wired system requiring two way communications between the two buildings.
Steve, Member of Bath Road Methodist Church’s Property Group said “The Wessex team that helped in the replacement of our fire system were tremendous. They provided a great quote which was then reduced once a detailed site inspection was carried out. I heard many compliments about them from people in and out of our church building on the day of the install”
