Description of Work: Upgrade, Service & Maintenance of fire alarm system
Background:
Dating from the 13th century, this ancient coaching inn can be found in the heart of Salisbury. It was built to provide lodgings for the draughtsmen working on the cathedral, but was later used as a staging post for mail coach services from London.
It is one of the oldest hotels in Britain and many of the original features still stand, from its timber frames to the medieval fireplace inside found during recent excavations. With 51 rooms the hotel is popular with international tourists on the English History trail.
Scope:
The hotel has been owned by the Maidment family for nearly 100 years, and has only recently changed hands. Wessex were instructed to upgrade the current fire alarm systems to a wireless setup, which will be completed in several phases to ensure minimal disruption to the hotel. This new system will give the hotel more flexibility. Due to the layout and setup of the hotel, we had to carry out extensive radio surveys to ensure the most appropriate and cost effective method was used to ensure the best signal was achieved.
