Vehicle Charging
With electric vehicles becoming a cost effective, low-emission option for families, the need for reliable charging points at home is at an all time high. Our experts provide seamless installations to get you up and running.
For you, your family and the environment
Find the best electric vehicle charging solution for your home, with Wessex Energy, to make charging faster, safer and more convenient. As one of the most power consuming pieces of equipment in your house, your safety is paramount and each installation is professionally designed, by a qualified engineer, to ensure the right charging point is chosen for your vehicle and your home.
You can get the most out of your charging system by integrating solar panels into your system. Using solar generated energy to charge your car ensures your transport is cost-efficient and eco-friendly.
You can also take advantage of the EV chargepoint grant. The grant provides funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing electric vehicle smart charge points at domestic properties across the UK. Our team can help advise you on your best next steps.
Effective and economical
In the long term, an electric vehicle charge point is the most cost effective and efficient way to charge your car, and Wessex can help you to choose the charging unit that is right for you.
Essentially you have two choices for charging your electric vehicle at home – using your household power supply, or a specially installed unit. A modern 7kW unit will give a full charge to a typical electric car in about four hours, but using your home’s power will take significantly longer. You may consider a faster 22kW unit, or even a Rapid Charger, if your budget and space allow. You also need to decide whether you want wall-mounted units, which are typically cheaper to install, or a post. If your charge point is going to be in an area that is publicly accessible, it is essential to look at securing access. But whatever your choice, Wessex can advise on the best solution for your needs, as well as offering installation and servicing across the full range of options.
Home charging
Reduce your reliance on remote chargers
Charging when out and about is more expensive than charging at home. Some venues such as hotels and shopping centres give power away for free, but most post chargers cost around £1.50 per hour with rapid chargers being even more expensive.
For your household
You can lower your family’s carbon footprint, reducing emissions, and lower overall running costs by changing your household cars to electric vehicles.
